The Royal Observatory’s blockbuster exhibition about the Mars expedition had incredible original imagery that needed bringing to life. We were appointed as designers for the interaction and digital content within the exhibition.
The centrepiece of Visions of the Universe was a large high resolution projection, displaying the latest amazing panoramic images of Mars beamed back from space by NASA. Using motion sensors, key information appeared as visitors walked up to the projection allowing them to be immersed in the Martian landscape.
We also created two touch screen exhibits each designed to explain astronomical concepts like transits and eclipses, as well as how the colourful images of galaxies are produced using astrophotography techniques.
