Fyodor Golan Interactive Skirt – Nokia
Creating a bespoke skirt made from smartphones
The Brief
Nokia and fashion designers Fyodor Golan asked us to help create an interactive skirt made from mobile devices, as part of their collaboration for SS14 London Fashion Week.
The Solution
We worked closely with Fyodor Golan to create a delicate steel structure for the dress that would work with their theme for the show. We prototyped and produced the adjustable clips that fix the 80 smartphones to the skirt.
Custom software was created to display still and moving content across all the screens. Working with the phones individual gyroscopes, this created a shimmering effect as the model walked. The overall effect is a dynamic, sculptural piece of innovative fashion that made technology headlines.
