Beast Quest – Hampton Court Palace
Enchanting visitors to the Palace with magical interactive games
For the October mid-term break Hampton Court Palace was host to Beast Quest – an actor led tour that asked children to collect clues from around the Palace to help ward off an evil wizard. HCP wanted some engaging digital interactives that could capture the imaginations of visitors, unlock the wizard’s spell and save the beasts of Hampton Court.
We created three magical moments that punctuated the whole experience.
The first used frightening sound and lighting effects to create the impression that an irritable fire breathing dragon was living in the beer cellar.
The Green Man took over the Queen’s Guard Chamber. Gnarly vines and growing stalks were projected on the walls. In order to reveal the hidden letters and reclaim the room, visitors had to step on keys that were hidden in the patterns of specially designed rugs.
The third was using a sword with an integrated laser to join up a sequence of stars on the ceiling of a gallery. When the constellation was complete the shape sprang to life revealing a roaring lion.
